Robbie Smith, Owner (a.k.a. Chief Web Weenie)
People throughout my life look at me a little differently probably because I am different. I see the world with different eyes; the eyes of someone who’s always trying to do something new and challenging and who possesses the unique ability to see the most simplest solution just a at glance.
In a nutshell, while other children were collecting baseball cards, I read technical manuals on how this whole World Wide Web thing works. At the age of 12, it wasn’t long after until my first real non-family client came along.
About 18 years, 30 or so technical manuals, about 3 dozen scripting/coding/programming languages proficient on Windows and Unix, 50+ clients, 50+ polished Website Add-Ons, aspiring 3D Artist/Developer, the Eagle Scout award in Boy Scouts of America, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in American Karate of Hill Country Karate, a Bachelors with a semester at Walt Disney World as a Custodial Host, and a Masters later, this is only the beginning for me. Call it a crux or a blessing, but I’m addicted to success in anything ever tried. While I hate to lose, I’m a good loser.
If you choose to work with Azurite Design, LLC, our integrity is guaranteed. We’ll never tell you something we can’t do just to get the job. If the request is possible, we’ll find a way. That has been consistent.
Codie Smith, Marketing and Owner of CDAustin
First, a formal introduction. I was raised in San Marcos, Texas. A beautiful part of the world, if you’ve never been (the outlet malls don’t count). After looking far and wide for a great design school, I found it decidedly convenient that Southwest Texas in San Marcos, now Texas State University, had a burgeoning Communication Design program. I graduated, magna cum laude, in December 1998.
My dad gave me two gifts that have proven fundamental to who I am today. The first is craftsmanship. You should see him work with his hands! Cutting corners is not an option, and even the smallest task is done with precision. Second, and equally important, is a sense of wonder. Everything in our spheres of influence has something interesting about it. I purposely look for those things. Only boring people get bored, right?
I bring a lot of unique experiences to the table. I think that’s important as a graphics guy (or gal). One morning you’re working on a logo for a barber shop, and that afternoon you’re building a website that shows how computer chips are made. Being interested, as a matter of habit, is recommended.
So here are some interesting things about me: I have a license to fly airplanes. I used to be a janitor at Walt Disney World. I am an Eagle Scout. I am one of those crazy Mensans (no, I don’t wear black socks and shorts at the same time). Is it a contradiction to be a Christian Mensan? Well, I am. My faith plays a vital role in my life. I was the drum major of my high school marching band. I was a finalist at the 2003 World Championship Rattlesnake Races. I have a fiction addiction. Power tools shape my world. I have a Ducktorate Degree from Disney University (as opposed to a Mousters). I love to cook, which is a byproduct of loving to eat, or maybe it’s the other way around. Primo Parrothead, that’s me. A string of green traffic lights gives me the warm and fuzzies. And I see a therapist every other Tuesday because I like conversation that matters. Hey, if we weren’t all crazy, we’d go insane!
Most of all, though, I like to make things. Coffee cakes. Coffee tables. Coffee websites. Doesn’t matter. And whatever it is, I do it with imagination, inventiveness and workmanship.
Chris Schwarz, Web Developer
Chris Schwarz is a fresh face to the world of web development. Most of his abilities have grown from one of his three life mantras: “There has to be a simpler/faster way to get this done.” Although he has no formal training in any form of programming, he taught him self advance techniques in Visual Basic (yes, this means going well beyond recording macros:) ) to create various applications to increase his own productivity and the productivity of his team at two fortune 500 companies.
Chris believes that any project he works on should be intuitive to the user, easy to use and deliver an end result of gained resources. Those resources can range from increased profit to improved time management. It’s not about what he was able to do, but what improvements were made to the end result, which is his second Mantra : “Showcase your abilities, never show off your talents.”
Chris joined the azurite design team in late 2007 to expand his abilities through various other (and more current) programming languages helping him to fulfill his third mantra: “Until you reach your limits, you never know what is your 100%.”
